How to capture the waveform of an IR sensor?

need help on how to capture the waveform of an ir sensor. I need to measure the frequency of a remote control when the button is pressed.

its frequency rang from 36khz-40khz-48khz (carrier frequency)

and the code frequency depend on the , type of remote you are using and no: of bits they sends !

for ex rc5 has 8 bit for data , 5 bits for add and i think 3 bits for control .
