firing angle

Sorry if this has been answered, I couldn't find it.
How do I calculate the firing angle of a triac used as a light dimmer. I want to get the most current so the light will be brightest.

Really would like it noiseless so it doesn'r interfere with other electronics near by.
thanks,
curt

calculate angle

You need to fire the triac with the Diac. You can calculate the firing angle with the help of the breakdown voltage of the diac. Refer to some standard textbooks on power electronics.
