How to build a 200W Dc-Dc ATX Psu that will suit X-box?

I'm attempting to use my xbox as a car pc and would like to build a 200w dc atx psu which i will then modify to suit xbox.

So input of 8v to 16v required and o/ps of 3.3v, 5v , 12v needed.
Does anyone have any good places to start learning. I know a good bit already but i want to master this subject and not just copy someone elses work. Any recommended ebooks or links??

It seems to be "offtopic",but most probably you will encounter many problems with vibrations in your car.
From electrical point of view it is quite feasible.
What seems problematic to me is to convert 8 to 16 V into 12 V without inverting it. Neither step-up nor step-down will help you.You may have to use a fly-back with a transformer.
However I know that some people find it easier to convert 12VDC into 220VAC and use the computer power supply.This will affect efficiency,of course.

Why not use a power inverter. If you must build a supply, you will have to start by knowing the current requirements of the PC. I don't think the 200W will help much. Just measure the current with a DC ammeter. This is a start. You can then purchase the three regulators.

inverters are noisy and tbh i want to get expierence building this kind of thing. ive been on mp3car.com my self and have built one of the models available there but i just wanted to research it myself and see if i could improve the design.
