Hi friends;

I have built a BLDC driver circuit with PIC 18F452. In both directions it is working quite well. Ramping etc. functions are working. My BLDC has three hall effect sensors to determine the correct position of the rotor and commutate correctly.

My Problem is , I can not brake the motor is a short time. When I try to brake it , I am lowering the voltage applied to the BLDC windings. yet , because of the inertia of the motor , it is stopping too late.

Could somebody suggest me a method to brake the motor in a short time , say 2 seconds.

Best regards.

braking bldc

hi,
i wonder if u have been able to solve this problem?

i guess u need to have external brake (applied to the load?)

dynamic braking vietnamese

connect windings to ground. That will enable a "dynamic" brake.

The same method is used for brushed DC motors.

PS.Can you publish source code/schematics/images of your driver?
I'm currently working on one as well - actually preparing motor.

bldc brake

Shorting the motor windings together provides dynamic braking and bring the motor to a fast halt
