hi,
Can anybody tell me which simulation synthesis etc eda tools have the linux version.
thx.

for simulation tools, cadence ldv, synopsys vcs and mentor graphics modelsim all can be used on linux

for synthesis, synopsys design compiler. cadence ambit buildgate does not have linux ver.

cheers

IMHO by now 9 of 10 ASIC tools have Linux versions.

synopsys design comipler has linux version and no longer provides NT version.
The last version is 2002.5, just for linux on pc.

most of s\y\n\o\s\p\y\s
part of m\e\n\t\o\r
only one of c\a\d\e\n\c\e(ldv)
some of visual(s\u\m\m\i\t), debussy(n\o\v\a\s)
etc

FPGA tools

For FPGA, I think Synplify has Linux version as well, though I havn't
used that.

FPGA tools

You are right Synpl!c!ty provides Synpl!fy and Synpl!fy 7.0 and 7.1
for Linux platform - Red Hat 6.2, 7.0, and 7.1 .

You can download (after registration) on

Too bad Xilinx still doesn't have a native Linux version. may be in 5.1 ?

L D V 3.4 or later

Does C a d e n c e continue to support NT platform for L D V ?

Deep IC,

I think the NT version of EDA tools may be not supported in the future. It is more easy (means low cost) for a EDA company to transfer a product from Unix to Linux.

ambit PKS 5 is now available on linux.
nc-verilog/nc-vhdl are available on linux
modelsim is available on linux
Debussy is available on linux

is anyone has logic simulator on linux

Could you give a download website.

add

synopsys synthesis tool
synopsys VCS
synopsys namoSim
avanti hspice
dolphin smash simulator
novas Laker IC layout tool
...many ....

maybe Cadence will release composer on Linux 2003 Q1

i heared that the ise4.2 have a linux version ,but i never saw it . anybody saw it ?

ise 4.2

Xilinx ise 4.2 does not have any linux version, but you can run it's main executables such as, par , ngdbuild , map under linux, using wine. Even it seems that Xilinx's new ise 5.1 does not have a linux version yet.
As you know, running a windows program such as par.exe under linux, although possible, will consume a lot of time, and is slow, so you can not do big implementations under linux for xilinx FPGA.
However, Altera has ported it's quartus development tool to linux completely, when you run it under linux you will see a program just the same as it's windows version. I think there is now a technique that lets designers to compile their windows written code for linux, with out any big change.

I've heard that @ltera use WIne to run qu@rtus too !!! That's why it has a wind0$ look
and feel .
