I draw the footprint for the solid state Relay (CPC1708) using Altium Designer.
but i don't know if it's correct or not and if i should draw the pad for the legs or not. Could anyone tell me how this component must br soldered on the PCB?
And could you check the attached Altium footprint file for this Relay and give me your feedback, please?
Dear Hanooda,
Footprints means not the surface area of the component. It is the space occupied by the component @ PCB. You can mount the component in vertical position or bend lead(horizontal) position & its your choice. Any way this is a through hole component & need pin holes. See my attachment.... Modify whatever you need...
There are video tutorials available for altium... Please find it...
Also I want to ask you what do you recommend me to use for the pad’s hole diameter. Could you give me some tips on selecting the hole diameter, please?
It may vary with number of layers, plated or non-plated, PCB material grade, current through the pad, type of mounting, component size & weight, etc...., I am not following any specific rule for this but if you want you can find lot of document by google search. That dimension what i am given here is enough for single side PCB. you can reduce it for PTH hole. its upto you....
