Hello,
I am running sepic converter with 5W load. The MSD1583 47uH sepic inductor is hot to touch, but I can just about keep my finger pressed down on it.......so what temperature do you think it is?.....I mean what is the temperature where there's no way you can keep your finger on it?

..Thanks, though research suggests 60C is for metals....insulative surfaces such as ferrite eneable one to place the finger on it even of it is much hotter than 60C?

Hi treez

Why you are not going to use a thermometer ?
Are you expecting that someone touch something and tell you the estimated temperature ? sorry but that sounds like kidding .

Best Wishes

From using a baking thermometer to measure liquids, I find...

Automotive coolant is typically 180 to 190 deg. F.
I cannot keep a finger in contact with the radiator.

Hot water right from the faucet is typically 120 deg. F.
I can only bear a few seconds of having my fingertip immersed in it.

When it cools to 110 degrees, I can keep my fingertip immersed. The surrounding flesh conducts the heat away fast enough so my fingertip does not feel as though it is burning.
