HI guys,
anybody there has any idea regarding relation between date code and quality of components?
I am wondering :

1)if production date really affect performance and reliablity of compoents?
2)if newer components are generally more reliable than old ones?
3)if aging affect analog and digital components differently?which one is affected more by aging?
4)and what is the life span of electronic components?5 years?10 years?20 years?

any professional advice is highly appreciated.

Regards.

1. No.
2. No. New design are, new dates no reliability improvement or unless its more than 150 year.
3. Yes. Analog is more affected because it contain capacitive component. (in equal condition that both is not use and store in normal temp and humidity)
4. Not used and store properly = 150 year.

Please ask more if needed.

There is an obvious connection of date code and quality managment: It can help to identify production batches with known defects.

Yes, that is a relation between traceability and the product it self...no reliability connected problem. unless, that batch is all a low yield product which is released unintended...thats...well, its the engineers problem.

Date code is important with batteries or componnents that has build-in batteries. They have limited life expectancy.
