Hey all,

So in my analog design course assignment, we have been asked to improve the performance of the given Common gate amplifier (Circuit attached).
Bandwidth > 500MHz
Voltage gain > 30dB
Voltage swing > 1V
Pdiss(rms) < 1mW

My question is how do I approach this problem?. Ofcouse, the first step would be to bias Q1 and Q2 in active (Q3 will always be in active because of the diode connection).

Here is my thought. At bias, Vin is zero i.e. to make Q1 in active, Vout > Vbias-Vthn and for Q2 to be in active, Vsd2 (Vdd-Vout)> Vsg2(Vdd-Vg2)-Vthp. Vg2 depends on Rbias, so ultimately I have to choose Rbias to make Q2 and Q1 in active. How do I select Rbias?

Any response would be appreciated.

Thanks,
P
