arc length of any curve

How can we calculate the arc length of any curve for example of sine, cosine or any random curve?

arc length of any curve

The length of a curve equals the integral of the magnitude of the derivative of the vector function.

Re: arc length of any curve

A general approximation done in arc length calculation is if the radius of the cirlce containing arc is large then the arc os approximated by a straight line. This is employed in the book Millman during the aec length calculation of electron emission in a CRT.
