POST for PIC ?????

can anyone direct me how i can do Power On Self Test for a PIC MCU.i am using a 16f876 for medical purpose.

**How can i check the ports ???( is it possible)
**How to check the checksum??(is it somewhere in the Program memory) or do i have to randomly add the sum and with PM read???

can someone plz help me??

You can put a routine that executes at start-up to read ports and check external conditions, but I don't see the reason for knowing program memory checksum. Maybe you can expain this.
