I have simulated the VCO used nonlinear model and have tuned S11>1 then how can I catch the VCO frequency and power at output graph in MWO or even the phase noise?

Re: how can I catch the VCO frequency and power at output gr

In MW Office , there is a Oscillator Probe to predict oscillator frequency. This utility is existed at Ver5.53 only ( I guess )

If you do a Harmonic Balance analysis, you can predict oscillator frquency, output power and also phase noise. With a little bit effort, you can also catch "the optimum Load Impedance" for both either Phase Noise and Output Power.
But be careful, you have to use correct models for the semiconductors.

Thanks for your advice. But I can not use the probe to simulate in MWO, and set in the graph. Is there any example for me to learn? Or any article to reference?

Re: how can I catch the VCO frequency and power at output gr

in MWO5.53 there are some oscillator examples:
.....\AWR\Examples\New Features\Phase Noise\Infineon VCO Ideal.emp
in MWO6.0
.....\AWR2003\Examples\Circuit Design Types\Oscillators\Infineon VCO Ideal.emp

Both are based on the application note 061 from Infineon:

hxxp://www.infineon.com/cmc_upload/0/000/021/559/Appli061_WCDMA_VCO.pdf

Here you will find nonlinear oscillator analysis.
Of course the other CAD packages with harmonic balance has examples too (ADS, Eagleware<--- they have a quite nice founder forum)

thanks for help!
Now I can catch the oscillator frequency, power and phase noise.
But in which way can I improve VCO resonator Q value and then the phase noise?
how can I see from the output graph?(such as s11, RE(Z) and so on)?

and a paper in microwave journal also in this topic.

It will be easy if you use @DA
