can anyone help me with calculating the Resonant Frequency of my microstrip patch antenna?

I think you need an approximation for rectangular patch antenna, it is fr (frequency resonance) = c0/2/sqrt(epsilon_r)/L
epsilon_r is the dielectric constant for the substarte and L is the length of Patch

Yes, it is possible, but what is your means about the antenna design?

you can simulate a probe feed patch antenna in HFSS by parameters as follows,

L_GND (the length of ground plane) = 80 mm
W_GND (the width of ground plane) = 50 mm

L_Patch = 44.6 mm
W_Patch = 33.2

h (height of the substrate) = 2.87
epr (Dielectric constant of the substarte) = 2.2

frequency range 2.5-3.5 GHz, with resonance frequency about ~2.8 GHz

position of the probe feed (-W_Patch/2 + 8.9 mm, 0mm)
radius of the probe is about 0.65 mm

So you think that the GND should big bigger than substrate?
If they are in same size ,will it cause any problem?

No, No, It should be noted that the L_GND = L_Substare & W_GND = W_Substrate.
the patch located at the top of the substrate.



In this picture, the substrate is blue and the patch is grey. the GND is behind the substrate. the red tip is the position of the feed probe.

what is your software? HFSS or CST or FEKO or the other softwares?

You can use HFSS ''Antenna Design Kit'' for designing the patch antenna. All you need to do is mention your resonance frequency and this design kit will generate the design in HFSS. You can give it a try and get some ideas.

Antenna magus is useful too, you can design any antenna with it and export in FEKO, CST and HFSS.

@hamidrezakarami. please help me in finding the feed points. how can i calculate the feed points in MPA. i am designing MPA on 10GHz freq in CST. i have calculated all the parameters but still i don't know how to calculate the feed points ?
