I was curious how a typical chip tempereture detector works in a mixed signal chip. What are the possible methods/circuits to implement it in a typical IC ( such as power management IC ) ?

Re: Chip Temp Detector

Connect to comparator inputs:
1. Partial temperature independent Bandgape voltage (by resistor divider for example)
2. Direct biased diode connected to GND. It has negative tempco about 1.5 - 2 mv/C.
The comparator will detect temperature when diode voltage drop will be equal to partial bandgap voltage.
