Hi,
I am a newbie to EM simulation / HFSS.
I used the lumped port (2 port modelling of transmission line ) initially to calculate the S parameters of the transmission line in HFSS.
Then I realized that I need to use the waveport to find the characteristic impedance. I made slight modifications in the dimensions of the vacuum box (radiation box) around it to account for the error that I received ( port is defined inside the surface ....something like that).
I noted the characteristic impedance to be 0.1+j*2.9 ohms. Also the S21 or S12 got changed to -10 dB from -0.1dB. I know its crazy and I am wrong. I neither know the exact reason nor the way it needs to be simulated. Please help me out !

hello whirl7wind77:
here's two hfss file for microstrip and strip line which i uploaded those for u.
i hope you get the answer!
