Hi all,
I have used the designer to draw PIFA for 4.5 GHz. While I am trying change the material of the substrate its throwing the following error.
"Port refinement, process hf3d error: Port p1 does not have a solved inside material on either side.. "
Please help in this to change the substrate material. I have tried with Gold, Graphine, and PEC.

Hi

From the looks of it,it seems like either you have assigned a waveport without radiation boundary or port assignment was not precise.can you post your file here so that it can be looked into or just the picture of your design

Dear rotmanlens,

Please find the attached PIFA hfss file. This is working. But when I am trying to change the material selecting from material database of HFSS to PEC or any other it is throwing the above error. Please let know the reason. Is there anything other than just changing the material.

Hello Sameer

I am actually looking at your file.from what you are telling me,i have understood that you are trying to change the substrate material.because that is the only material that can be changed in your schematic and why would you want a PEC ?PEC is not a substrate its a conductor. email me @sajidmiya@gmail.com

for further discussion

Regards
Rotmanlens.

Hi thank you for the reply.
The choice of PEC is a mistake from my side.
Actually I want to change the substrate to some liquid crystal material and try it out. Let me know how to change the material with an example. Please help me in this.

ok.
To change the material.

follow the steps below:
right click on the substrate and ---->Assign material
once you are click on it it will take you to the database of available material.but since you are talking about liquid crystal material, which i doubt is present in the standard database of the HFSS you would have to manually enter the values and create a new material properties into the database and select THE material as your substrate.

Hope that helps
Regards
Chachito.

Hi dear chachito,
Thank you very much. It worked for me.
