I am having trouble trying to figure out exactly how to do the following...

I have a vibrating motor (like from a pager ).. here is the pic

**broken link removed**

I wired it up to a battery so that it can recieve a charge and vibrate.. the device works fine with a battery source, but heres what i need help with..

I want to somehow figure out a way to make "settings" in the circuit.. in other words have some sort of mechanism that can allow the device to vibrate in 4 settings.. they would be:

setting 1: vibrate once
setting 2: vibrate twice
setting 3: vibrate three times
setting 4: OFF

I want to make this all work from a rope/pulley system.. string would work too (since the motor and battery are both small.

How could i make it so that when i pull the string/rope it cycles through those settings? helllllppppppppppppppp!

-I was thinking either gears or something or maybe some sort of electrical piece???
