pspice simulation profile

Hello,

It's been many years since I last used PSpice (in college). I downloaded the student version but am having problems getting it to work.

Most important, when I try to create a simulation profile the first time it asks for a previously existing profile to inherit from. But I don't have a previously existing profile since this is the first one! I've tried putting in a bogus name but nothing works. Can some PSpice guru out there tell me how to get this thing running? I just need to simulate some very simple circuits.

Thanks,
Jonathan B.

about pspice.

It depends on the spice package you have. I use Microcap it's much more friendly and fast than most of spice packages I tried before. You can download a student free version (with some limitations but you have small circuits).

Go to  Spectrum Software and download MicroCap 8 demo version

inherit from an existing profile

Hi,

If you talk about pSpice student version, you are probabely using Orcad pSpice 9.1 student, am I right ?

Do you use Orcad Capture to enter schematics ? Or do use legacy "Schematics" from Microsim.

I have installed pSpice 9.1 student with "Schematics" instead of Orcad Capture and I do not have this problem.

inherit from pspice

Right,"inherit" means you should edit the network in Orcad capture first then link to Pspice simulation tools. If you start work from the Orcad capture ,the simulation fuction will be integrated .You can easily start simulation after editing schematic
