Hi

I am trying to look at a large signal S-param sweep with ver 2003C using one of the pkg library components (2N3866/A). I am using one of the template set-up's for this test. My problem is that I can do the sweep and the matching on the input of this RF transistor, but the moment I try and add any matching inductor on the output side the simulation fails or hangs.
It for some or other reason fails when solving the input power around 15dBm

The conditions I am looking at is:

Sweep freq (70-120MHz), (Vcc 14v), base-0v and input drive, 10-20dBm

I am not using this SW often so I hope an @DS expert can pinpoint my problem.

Thanks, E

Could you tell what the warning message is?I prefer to do a linear simulation to find stablity and gain parameter in this condition.

That is just the thing, the simulation window opens up and hang without showing an error. Most of the time I have to shut-down the module to re-gain control. Strange

Maybe the parameters you setup like power or bias iare not suitable. It may be out of range.

Don't think so. I am using 1/2 of the Vcc, it is a 28v device and the base grounded through a choke for Class C operation. The point is that without any matching inductor in series with the output the simulation runs fine without any errors or warnings. Matching components in the input side won't produce a lock-up.

Also this is just an exercise of an existing working design that I am trying to simulate and verify/improve performance.

I feel it is something in the solver set-up, type, accuracy, step size etc.

This template seems not reasonable, especially the 4 port coulper setup. How can S(2,1)and S(3,1) equal to 1 simultaneity? I recommend you setup LSSP simulation manually use LSSP simulation engine not HB engine.
