Hi all.. I have a problem in solving structures in FEKO. I have a planar microstrip structure, with a dielectric and a ground plane. Can I know the method to give the feed from any point on the conductor to the ground, through the dielectric?

When I draw a wire from conductor to ground plane through the dielectric, and assign a 1V wire port to it, and then solve the problem, an error message appears:

"A segment has neither a node, nor a connection point". Please help.

Here is what i learned from FEKO LITE:

1) Do not forget to make UNION, to connect all your microstrip+wire+ground. Select them all and press union. And their type must be CONDUCTOR.

2) When you using infinite substrate (Solution>Infinite Planes), it is easy to use microstrip port directly on your microstrip structure.

3) When you use finite substrate, you can use "wire+wire port" or "polygon to ground + split + edge port".

Search for examples in FEKO: microstrip patch antenna on finite substrate, on infinite substrate, with pin feed, with edge feed. When you open this examples, there is a text note appear with small tutorial. I remember i read this tutorials many times before i understand how to make edge port on finite substrate. Try open this examples, turn on transparency and fly around and see how it's made, and note that all parts are in one single UNION.
