I have a .lay file and a .slm file, how do I import them into substrate?
If I just go to the ADS main window and click files > import slm files, it will say some layers are not defined. I guess the layer definitions are in the .lay file, but how do I import the .lay file together with the .slm file?
Thanks!!

Hi,
in Momentum:
*.lay files: Options -> Layers -> read ...
*.slm files: Momentum -> Substrates -> open ...
Cheers!

Hi,
I have the same problem. But I cannot find the directory which you provided for *.lay file (option->layers->read). Would you please provide an image?
Thanks

Hi,
Here a picture how to get to the "Read button":
Mom_Layer.gif

Concerning the directory where the *.lay file ist stored, the default location should be at the project root. But by exporting the *.lay file you can choose any other location.
Hope it helped,
Cheers

Hi,

I found your ADS version is ADS2009. Now I am using ADS2011. Do you know how to do it in ADS2011
Thanks

Hi again,
Sorry, you're right, forgot to mention I am using 2008U2. I also have no hands on 2011.10.
You'll sure get an answer from someone else.

Hi,

I know this thread had went cold but i would like to ask whether was there anyone who has the solution to import the layer files in ADS Momentum 2011? There isn't a read button anymore.

Cheers

Hi, I also have this problem and just found this in the Agilent Forum. Hope it will help.

"To create the ADS 2011 substrate and technology files from a .lay file, you can simply put the .lay file in an ADS 2009 project. Then convert the ADS 2009 project to ADS 2011. A library will be created with the layers definitions as in the .lay file. The .slm file can be directly imported into ADS 2011 from the substrate editor window, File"
