How to Design Snubber

Hi
I start project on 500VA UPS. I face Problem on AVR when we switch relay for maintain output voltage with in range spikes produce. How to resolve this spikes using snubber . Give me good link where i findout equation for design snubber.

i would recomend this 2 book on the snubber crcuits...

Power Electronics - Circuit, Devices, and Applications, M. H. Rashid; Prentince Hall chapter 18 Protection of Devices and Circuits

or better of

Power Electronics - Converters, Applications and Design, Mohan; wiley
chapter 27 Snubber Circuits

i prefer the latter is bcos its better explanation ... it explain more on the physics of the devices, the art of the circuits and design...

rashid books i bought is bcos it hav the spice model and spice simulation..its good too...
