DMA design

Hi,
am looking at designing a BUS system for a generic DSP architecture, (SoC/ASIC type) but just the digital side, no analog blocks. Have never done anyhting like this before. Obviously i would like to provide some sort of DMA block but have no idea how these things work, other than a vague oultine (am fresh out of uni). Can anyone point me in the right direction for getting advice on DMA. basics to advanced, for example between the RAM of say a DSP core and other on chip memories.
thanking you in advance.

Hi

Look at the old 8237A datasheet. It's an old DMA controler from Intel used in legacy PC.

The datasheet is available at :
