I have to develop a sinewave dimmer for theatre lighting. I am useing an IGBT and micro to PWM the supply. Any info on the mains filtering and general techniques for doing this will be appreciated. I can share my circuit when it is up and running.

Re: SineWave Dimmer

power? 1kW <> ??

When I was work in theatre, main electronics was based on Thyristors, it's inexpensive, simple ...

Re: SineWave Dimmer

Pls ref some ups circuit or other inverter circuit.this forum can find inverter circuit.

SineWave Dimmer

Hi Diksi
Thyristors are old hat, too much harmonic distortion and noise, the lights sing!! Then we had reverse phase dimming, on at zero crossing using IGBT's? Better, BUT SineWave dimming is now all the rage, quiet as a mouse with no crap on the mains. All we do is PWM the power, and then filter, but, we PWM at 30KHz, so the filter is smaller! We talking 3 phase mains and 10 Amps.
