help me choosing transistor,mosfet,triac etc

i need to automate my generator self system...i hv tested on the 5v relay and now i need to replace relay with appropriate transistor bt i am confused..the generator's starter needs 12v dc and 2amp....kindly help me which device should i use to make fast switching and no errors....thank you
 

Almost any power transistor will drive a 12V/2A starter if its base current is 200mA. But we do not know if your circuit can provide 200mA continuously to the base of a power transistor.
 
you want to turn a 12V DC 2A[continuous] load with a 5V DC signal? Any of the devices you mentioned would work, though [typically] a SCR and triac would stay on
 

well im giving the signal from pic16f877a...
and i came to know that i can achieve heavy ampere by connecting two or more transistors parallel..as i dnt want to use power transistor...

The maximum output from a PIC is only 20mA then a transistor switching output will be only 200mA, not 2A.

Five or ten little transistors in parallel can have an output of 2A if their inputs total 200mA which is impossible from a PIC.

A power darlington transistor (it has two transistors, driver then output) can produce an output of 2A with a low input current but the output has a loss of about 2V.

A power logic-level Mosfet can be driven from a PIC and produce up to many Amps at the output with a very low voltage loss. Here in Canada I would buy an IRL540 for $1.62.

Why not look at their datasheets?
The STP60NF06 needs a gate-source voltage of 10V to fully turn on but your PIC provides only 5V so it cannot be used.
The IRF630 is a high voltage low current part and it also needs a 10V gate-source voltage so it also cannot be used.
The IRL540 works perfectly with a 5V input from a PIC and its current rating is high so it will be perfect.
