Help me build a simple 50khz oscillator

Hi all....
I need to build an oscillator using descrete
components for a project im doing..
i would like to keep it as simple as possible.
only thing it must have a fixed 50KHz output. would anybody out there have any
ideas or circuit diagrams that might be helpfull..
I would really appreciate any help or input with this...

hartley type oscillator

hi thanks for the quick replys.. ya i can use transistors or what ever else it doesnt really matter.. the only thing it has to be as simple as possible.. thats kinda the thing..i need a sq wave output for the next stage.. ive looked at a few designs colpitts hartley oscillator etc but it the values for the components to give 50hhz out which im finding hard

Can't you use an oscillator made with a NE555 ic?:

Search for astable (pagg. 5-6-7) in the following datas*eet: http://www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/LM/LM555.pdf the "typical"component value is shown in the fig.6 table. You will easily be able to make the 555 generate a 50kHz frequency.
Same thing for http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/ne555.pdf : see pagg.10-11 (fig.14).

Hey

I think your frequency is too low for a colpitts oscillator. I am not sure, but you might wanna check this circuit:

I have BUILT this oscillator on a PCB and it works perfectly well in 1 Mhz.

Using 555 timer or multi vibrator is also good

It hasn't been said, if sine or square wave oscillator is required, also you may guess about the intended frequency stability.

Generally, any oscillator type can be used, including quartz oscillators. Colpitts should work with common fixed inductors in the 100uH to 1 mH range. My personal favourite for low part count square wave oscillator would be a CMOS inverting ST gate (HC14) with RC feedback.
