function generator build

I like to build a function generator myself with just using NTE864 IC which is a precision VCO IC for tri, square, sine, ramp. Just for home use. Also I may mention I am a begginer. Is it a good idea? I can not afford expensive function generators.

Any tip to be thrown?
RA in figure is a trimpot for adjusting frequency.

thank you.
