I have a 4-wire keypad (+,-,Data in, Data out) connected to a keypad bus control panel. I would like to read and emulate the data between the two then create a hand held programmer that does all the programming for me that I would normally have to enter, by hand, at the keypad. I have no idea where to start.

Many thanks

Hi,

I have no idea where to start.
* start with clear requirements. Write them down. Add sketches about your idea (a picture tells more than a lot of words)
* do internet search, read, read, read
* draw a flow chart, add sketches of wiring...
* try to solve part by part on your own
* test them, maybe use simulation software

... this should be a start ... and a bit more
