It is a heater for thermal transfer method, made of an old iron.
Below there is an example of fairy thick board with thin paths made u sing the iron:
The original thermostat of the iron was okay, so there was no need to make a new electronic one. A piece of sheet metal (roof) was used as a housing. Thick dissected rubber clad on this sheet acts as legs that the device does not slip and possibly not scratch the surface. Nothing is screwed from the bottom, because there is no need to do this. Just remember not to push fingers there, and the whole should be turned on for no more than 3-4 minutes and do not move the device during its operation. The heating control is placed in a way that it is visible from the top in one of the holes and it clearly indicates that the heater is heated up or not. A comfortable rubber roller is used to transfer the image.
A rectangular aluminum plate (slightly wider than the iron plate, thickness about 5mm) can be screwed to the top.
Ease of use is really better than the iron held between the knees and above all a lot safer, because it is easy to get burnt when you use the bare iron.
