hello, i am making a robotic arm which imitates the motion of my hand. it has to be given input through webcam using matlab.
but how do i make it detect all the joints of fingers and fingertips? and this data has to be fed to an arduino board.

is this possible through matlab or simulink?

The technique is known as 'motion capture'. To perform it real-time is a major challenge for computer programmers.

Don't know if it can be done in matlab or simulink.

Kinect is a commercially available product.

There is a laborious method where you go through a video frame-by-frame, clicking on each joint of the body to register its position. An easier method detects lights attached to the body.

Try an internet search on motion capture software.
