Hello,
I have a motor with the next specs:
Vin : 21V-30V
Inom : 2.7A (Vin=24V)
I_start : 18A
RPM : 3300
Reductor :
Gear ratio : 512:1
The moment on the shaft : 2400 Ncm
Axial_load : 500N
Radial_load : 350N
Electromagnetic brake
Vin : 21V-30V
I nom : 400mA (Vin 24V)
response time : 30ms
stop time : 1.5ms

I use a H-Driver with the next specs:
Vin : 5V to 40V
Maximum Drive Current : 3.6A
Package : SO8
I tested the driver in reverse and forward mode , with Vin : 27V , everything worked well and the current had a value about of 650mA.
But when I set '1' to IN1 and IN2 (Brake mode) the driver is burning
I though that taking into account Vin and current would be enough , but it wasn't.
What I am missing?

Thanks in advanced

Hi,

We don´t know one of the most important informations: What H-bridge controller do you use?
--> give a link to the datasheet, directly at the manufacturer site.

Klaus

1) Does your H Bridge driver require the enable be temporarily off
when you put it into brake mode ?

2) You are observing the timing and ratings in the datasheet for brake
mode motor current....?

3) Use a R, say 100 ohms, in lieu of a motor and observe the timing
you get, that at no time in any vertical path in hbridge leg both output
on....shorting supply to ground.

4) You implemented the chip bypass recommendations in the datasheet ?

5) If external diodes part of the recommendation in datasheet you have those in place.

Regards, Dana.
