This module can cooperate with GPS receiver and AVR microcontroller from Atmega. The whole can be installed in a vehicle and be used as monitoring alarm of the vehicle state and transmitting its location to the user via an SMS or e-mail with link to Google maps.
MG3030 module from Maritex works in the range from 900 MHz and 1800MHz. It supports two SMS modes: text and PDU. It has a built-in TCP/IP stack, two UARTs and audio interface.
There is 3,3V stabilizer, filter capacitors, circuit MAX3232, card SIM slot and SMA slot for mounting the antenna on the PCB. There is also space for two LEDs indicating the connection with network and an incoming call or SMS.
Microswitch is used for enabling and disabling the module. Connectors for the speaker and microphone were added. Headers are used to connect power and communication with the computer/microcontroller.
Voltage filtering and application of several capacitors at the input and output stabilization are important, because the module during operation may take to several hundred mA.
The module was connected to the computer using the RS232 port. Hyperterminal was used for writing commands (transmission parameters: 115200,8,n,1). For testing purposes, the speaker with an impedance of 32Ω was plugged into the system. The sound quality is satisfactory.
The module is controlled by AT commands through UART.
Based on this board, you can create a remote control system, controlling lighting, switching different devices, etc.
