When using a discreet transformer for 10/100/1000 BASE-T PHY the signal ground plane is normally voided under the magnetics, at the RJ45 the signal ground plane is typically included under the signal pins and a chassis ground plane under the connector side that connects to the shield of the RJ45.
Now if using a RJ45 with integrated magnetics, what approach should be taken, chassis ground under the entire connector or just the outer edge?
Signal ground just to the MDI edge of the connector or under the signal pins as well?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
