give advice to do a project in embedded

please give an advice to do a project in embedded related to electrical, i don't know anythinh, i know c, and i am doing my M.Tech in controls and instrumentation, can any one give a advice to do my project related to electrical, means which is best, the way of approaching and how to learn and the related books.
 

I think a more precise spec. is required. What are you going to achieve? Any idea of which mcu / system to use?
