Germanium diode selection

I want 0.2V to 0.4V drop in my ckt my peak current goes upto 1A but it is for few milliseconds, and very rare.

in normal operation ckt requires only few tens of mA.

I donot know which germanium diode are widely available.
and cheap too for example.
very widely used silicon diode is 1N400x and 1N4148 by me and easily available.


In my city i get things by numbers only, component seller donot what the component is.

I know they are faster

I have used few of these during my design of MC34063 step up convertor
1N5817 to 1n5822
