For low-cost STB design plan, espially core chip?

We want to begin a new product,which emphasis on low cost.

Though ST, Fuji, NEC have leading position in STB market today.
We want a more cheap plan.

I think DVD chip would be a better choice, but they provide just DVD and not likely to give more detail specification.

Would anybody show a a plan would do a STB job, we don't care whether it is compliant with CSA.

I think the core chip would handle Tuner TS input and do the MPEG2 decoder, and have good OSD capability.

i think the ST's chip price is so low now.
Many new companys design the SOC chip too nowadays, maybe they can decrease the price less than ST.But if the price of a new company's chip is less than ST's, maybe the company will have few profits.As we all know, ST is in leading position now with big amount orders.

the price of ST stb chip is still have reducing space.
i guess that the sti5518 still have 100% profits. Can you believe?

As we know, a more powerful DVD chip is just half price as ST5518i.

Fujitsu is nice low cost solution , The total solution is more cheaper.

NEC EMMA2L (61120) is powerful one and cheap than STi5518.

But STi5518 is like Windows in PC. All people design STB using ST about 80%
