Hi to all...
If you ever wish to build simple but solid
FM radio in classic style here is schematic
Receiver is tested and work well
if you use outside antenna.

The circuit is too simple and automatic gain control is missing so it will be overloaded by strong local stations. Even my cheap old Sony Walkman FM radio has a manual local-distant switch. Since I live in a huge city with many strong local stations then the switch is always in the "local" position which reduces its sensitivity then it cannot pickup weak distant stations.

This Vintage 2 radio also does not tune the signal before the RF amplifier amplifies it, therefore its overload is worse.

This Vintage 2 radio needs an outside antenna? Then its sensitivity must be poor. My very cheap clock radio uses a 1m piece of wire as its antenna and it picks up all the local stations.

The vintage 2 radio does not use a modern crystal filter in its IF amplifier for excellent selectivity. Then its selectivity must be awful and maybe it picks up a few stations at the same time.

No
This radio is less sensitive than ordinary FM radio with preamplifier
stage (one RF transistor more) so that is why need good
outside antenna.

Second
There is no any kind of overloading and audio signal is clear
why...demodulator is unbalanced ratio-detector which is also
a limiter
Also you may see local oscillator with his
tune-tank work 10.7 Mhz under and selectivity is good in area
where I am.
