Hi,
We are doing a 130W offline Two Tran forward with 24vout.
A 48W flyback feeds off its output.

The 2TF uses a PQ20/16 core for its output inductor, with AL=160, gap = 0.6mm.

It can't use any of the lower gap length cores.

The Flyback could use the same 0.6mm core, but could also use PQ20/16's with lesser gap.

But for cost reasons we will simply do the flyback with the same 0.6mm core set as the 2TF.

Would you say we will be saving good money like this? Quantities are some 10000 per year.
Or should be just do the flyback with the lower gap size?
-As you know, academically speaking,
its better to use the lowest gap
size as it means less fringing field heating of coils, and less noise.

But it will naff the production staff off if we use two different sized gap cores when we could have
used the same one for both.

Using the same PQ20/16 core with a 0.6mm gap for both the Two-Transistor Forward (2TF) converter and the Flyback converter can simplify the supply chain.
