Hello
I want to know about Floating Current Source. It seems that this topic has appeared in this paper for the first time:

Output stage for current-mode feedback amplifiers, theory and applications
by: Arbel & Goldminz, 1992

But I can'access to this paper. Can anyone help me? Is there any other source for learning about this topic?
Thnx

See this example:

Or search for "Monticelli biasing". Also, this IEEE paper
"A Compact Power-Efficient 3 V CMOS Rail-to-Rail Input/Output Operational Amplifier for VLSI Cell Libraries" by Ron Hogervorst et al. explains it quite well.

Hello erikl
Your answer is useful. But can you explain about the floating current source configuration? I want to see equations of it. Have you ever seen such equations in the texts?
thnx

I'd think Monticelli's original paper (s. the 1st PDF below) and the above given Hogervorst paper describe it well.

I found two university tutorials with some equations on this biasing scheme:

View attachment Monticelli_Class-AB_biasing_scheme.pdf from **broken link removed**, and
View attachment EE214_Advanced_Analog_IC_Design-course_Murmann.pdf, slides 13-16 . HTH!
