Why dont u use compact flash...its very convenient....true IDE mode and stuff...i am using it currently for my mp3 player project.

i work with the samsungs NANDs. What bugs
excist? Did you hear anything about MRAMs.
As they seem to be a good solution for not using
NAND-Flashes.

seems that Samsung NAND chips are hard to get now. Better check availability before using them.
Maybe it's better to use the cards (Smartmedia or Compactflash)

The main focus of Flash is capacity, not speed. The faster the chip the more power it consumes and the bigger die sie

As I know, Samsung Nand flash will unstable at some lots. At spec. it work at 2.7~3.3v, but when you got the unstable nand flash. It only can work at 2.7v. This is a big bug at mass production.

They all have a wide range of selections.

Maybe the bug is inside the chip, so I think you can transfer to use NAND flash-based card, such as Compact Flash, SD, MMC......

In fact, it is inevitable to meet bad block in NAND usage, while NOR is more stable for its high cost.

You can never balance the performance and price to a golden point, but I think you can have more options in the future. You know, ST has released Samsung NAND compliant flash chips, maybe you can try it. Furthermore, M-system's DISKONCHIP is a good choice, however, it is Toshiba NAND inside.

Almost flashmemory has read access time 35ns
and dummy time is 15ns.
so, for 1byte read minimum 50ns is required.

maximum read. (if no gluelees time)
1byte = 50ns
1Kbyte ~= 50us
1Mbyte ~= 50ms

but there is needed very large erase time(2ms~) and busy time.

So, minumum time for 10MByte read is one second.
