fixing voltage to 0..14 V input 0..20V

Hello, i have an inout voltage from 0 to 20 volt and i want to limit this voltage to 0 to 14 V, just i want that my voltage do not exceed 14 V, please have you an idea on how to do this ?

i mean "input" not "inout"
 

You need to use a voltage regulator that will limit and regulate the voltage to 14V. You can use a fixed regulator or a variable one. You can use LM317 simply. Or you can use a 7815 followed by 2 diodes (although you won't have very accurate output, which may vary with current output).

Also, take into consideration the current and hence the power loss. If current is too high and the power loss is too high, you may want to use a switching regulator for improved efficiency.

Switching regulators provide more stability in higher current ckts as well then Tahmid
 

Yes this is a good idea but i want to not have a big difference between input and output.
 

What is your current requirement? Have you taken a look at the LM317 circuits available online?
 

the current consumption is about 500 mA, i am worried about fluctuation of output voltage compared to input voltage, and i want to increase efficiency withou using switching regulator, have you an idea with discete component ?
