There are lots of techniques used for finger print processing and one of the most popular technique is GABOR filter.
Wavelets are used for finger prints enhancement. I think you could describe your problem in detail that what type of finger print processing you want to do.

Raymond thai is a good place to start. Search on google for papers by Anil K. Jain, S. Prabhakar. The best of the algos is probably by Hong ( don't remember complete name) There is a book by Anil Jain on Fingerprint recognition. That will help alot.

fingerprint binarization in matlab

For gabor filter, I'm not using this. Anyway, there're are few matlab files about gabor filtering for fingerprint you can download from mathworks website. There is a section of file exchange in mathworks, there are quite a number of matlab files about fingerprint recognition or enhancement.

Online fingerprint verification is possible in matlab..We have done it in march 06 & it is possible... U will have to store the image in the work directory of the matlab... First draw a block diagram which indicates the sequence of steps to be followed.. Pay close attention to noise removal & joining of ridges..if that is done half of our project is over...

Hello All,

I am doing fingerprint verification as my final year project. I am using histogram equilization and Fourier transform for image enhancement and threshold method for binarization. I have done upto Thinning and now all my ridges are 1 pixel wide. But I am confused in Minutiae extraction. And how can I save and retrive that image? Can anyone please help me??
