if i have connected some sort of circuit with a micro controller which requires 2 amperes current...surely controller cannot provide this much current..so i use an external supply ..now my question is that can i connect this external supply's ground with controller's ground pin(because grounds have to be common)?? reply please

Yes you can.

Power supply can supply uC and peripherals with common ground, on the same or different voltages.
