Re: allegro gds to virtuoso

Hi,

Would anybody know how can I export a PCB allegro layout (as a gds format) in Virtuoso Layout Editor?

Thanks and best regards,

Added after 58 minutes:

no one replied to me but i wanna specify that i tried to export that allegro pcb layout using : export > DXF..

then i had to create a dxf output file (i did one called "test")

then the program asked me to create a layer conversion file (*.cnv)

how to dot that?

any idea please

thanks

Re: allegro gds to virtuoso

You need to define your layer conversion. I have already given a detail how to in this forum, do a search.

BTW, using DXF to out put from Allegro renders it non intelligent thus useless in Virtuoso.

I believe you will need to use Allegro Package Designer (APD) to export GDSII format. In APD, you can import a .brd file (Allegro PCB file format). Once inside APD, one of the File-> Export options will be GDSII.

You want want to make any changes while in APD because if you add database objects not supported by Allegro PCB, you will not be able to export the file back to a .brd file.
