Hello all

In a newly designed board we have made a mistake that I am a bit unsure about the consequences of
We are using an rj45 with magnetics builtin and POE capability. Using the J0B-0388NL from Pulsejack
The error is that we have connected both pin 9 and 10 to ground (9 is the pin just above the pin marked "CH4+ 8")
Is this a problem? I can't tell really but the idea was to NOT connect it and still it slipped through review.

The boards are already made and manufactured. We could drill the hole to break the connection to ground by destroying the holes plating.
There is enough room on the board to do so without damaging any nearby tracks. Just wanna have someone others opinion if it is really necessary. This board is to be used as testing equipment and does not need to perform as well as regular Ethernet switches. Question is how much does this error affect the function of the port. I.e. the 0.1uF capacitor is bypassed by this error etc.

Most PHYs won't tolerate the transformer center (Pin 9) connected to ground. It may be possibly required to connect to a power supply, review the PHY datasheet.
