Dear All

i want to know that how many voltages and amperes maximumly i can provide to the IC 7806 at which this IC will work properly and wil give 6v out put
i mean maximum voltage and amperes that i should provide as input to this IC ?????????????????????????
 

Did in any time you go through the data sheet of the device in your life cause these are the most basic and common details available in any data sheet

7806 give 6V on output only if input voltage is at least 3V higher then output (6V), that means input voltage should be 9V. In that condition you can achieve 1A on output, but if you make higher input voltage, and difference Vin-Vout > 3 then you will get less current on output and 7806 will dissipate more power into heat. Absolute maximum output voltage is 6,25V and input is max 40V for Vout 24V, and max 35V for 5V-18V (Fairchild). Quiescent Current is 5mA. All of this data and informations you can find in manufacturer datasheet for this part, just like Tahmid says.

Well if 7806 can deal with 1A only then it is useless for me beacuse i want to hold a load of 4A then what will be Suitable for this????????/

You can use 7806 for 4A with additional transistor. Also you can use switcher regulator 5A to compensate efficiency loses.

This circuit can provide lots current, lets say 5A, but zou nead good heatsink for transistor.

Use a series pass transistor to increase current handling capacity. However, at this current level, it would be wiser to use a switching regulator due to minimized losses and maximized efficiency. You can find lots of switching regulators - ones with integrated power switch(es), such as L4975, L4977, L4970; and ones that are only buck controllers and you need to add external power switch(es).

Set up switch mode supply. The simple switcher series is as beginner friendly as it gets for SMPS. It's doubtfull a linear regulator at 4Amperes is practical unless you love giant heat sinks
