What's the easiest to strip/use wire for prototyping and breadboarding? I bought all sorts of wire, teflon, PETE, enamelled, but none of them could hold a candle to how easy it was to strip the wire that came with this electronics lab kit I got when I was a kid. I have no idea what the insulation is made out of, but it's orange and grippy, like rubber. It has a nice texture that lets me get more grip on it, especially with pliers, but it's so easy to strip I just use scissors even when I have my wire cutters right next to me. Does anyone know where I can get some more of that wire? (And to be clear, I want a solid conductor only)

Oh I was thinking about something with assorted lengths though. If I need to connect two terminals that are only 1 cm apart, I wouldn't want any really long pieces of wire, for neatness and EMI reasons.
