Hi all, bit of a novice user with Cadsoft Eagle and was hoping someone could help me out a bit with a problem please?

If I add an SMD resistor or capacitor from the R-EU_ library (say an 0805), the package is shown having a box around it on the top layer of the board (seems to be 4 lines connected around the outside of the pads). This shows on the PCB as being part of the top layer however I cant edit/delete it and it also shows on the package drawing in the library, however when i attempt to edit the package the lines are not there. I've added attachments showing the box in the PCB layout around an 0805 cap, a screenshot of the resistor package showing the box and the package editor not showing it.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Its reserved space for that part, you can use layers to disable or enable particular layer.

Vertical Toolbar on left side on screen icon called "Display", enable or disable following layers:

tKeepout - for top layer
bKeepout - for bottom layer

Thanks tpetar, that solved it, was just a bit worried that it was i nthe same colour as the top layer as I'm sending this board off to be made and didnt want to pay out for a junk board.

Thanks

Yes you need to check everything several times before sending material for processing board.
