I need chip (chipset) for task described below:
I have one PCM time-slot from E1 stream.
I wish to support modem protocol from
this time slot and transfer data to RS-232 I/F.

How can I do it?

you can try motorola MPC82xx family.
Is not a chipset but a micro.
You need also a line interface for E1,and a Flash or RAm.
Another way is to use a Liu/framer and if you use HDLC on E1 find one whit HDLC (infineon or maxim and others) and after a micro cheapest.
I don't think that exist chipset that perform your project.
Bye.

I already have ST-BUS I/F (64 kbs) with one timeslot for modem connection.
