Dust particle detection sensor designing based on ir led&diode

I don't know it is really possible or not.......but you can think of using laser beam and camera for this kind of application to just give you can idea...bcz light will scatter from such dust particle and you can capture that an image and could be able to measure it even.....

The sensor should utilize light scattering similar to a tubidity meter. If particles are very small, visible light (particularly blue) will achieve a higher sensitivity.
